Nature Conservation

Schönfeld guestfarm is proactive in the pursuit of renewable energy sources, ecological interests and nature conservation. We work for the sustainable utilization of game to ensure great trophies for future years, and are committed to the development of the land. We recycle water & waste material, and use both wind and solar energy in powering the farm. In the upcoming fuel crisis, we are dedicated to developing alternative energy sources for a lasting future and a healthy environment. In addition to this we are active in preventing erosion, controlling bush encroachment, and over-grazing of the land. In the most arid country south of the Sahara, we hope to set an example in environmental matters and ecological, sustainable utilization of the land. In addition to this, we have partnered with the government in protecting endangered species, and at present have two cheetahs and eight black rhinos from nature conservation on the farm.

Schönfeld also breeds rare-species such as Sable and Roan. Even though the rhinos belong to the government, Schönfeld takes pride in being custodians of these specially endangered species. During the last 3 years our Rhino population has grown by 80
