Conservation

Schönfeld is a member of the government conservation program to protect the endangered black rhino (Rhino Custodianship Program). Four black rhino, which are owned by the state, have found a safe haven here. This core group of four has grown to 10 in the past 9 years.

We also manage our hunting areas to ensure a sustainable, healthy and natural wild population.

We use the following renewable energy sources:

• Heating with acacia wood
• Solar and wind pumps for water extraction

And also engage in recycling by:

• Recycling water for irrigation
• Separation and recycling of waste
